Edinburgh Brass Band have performed a free concert as part of the To Absent Friends festival every year since it launched in 2014. This is now firmly established as the band's favourite concert of the year and it is always popular with audiences.
Taking inspiration from and honouring absent friends, Edinburgh Brass Band will a perform a selection of reflective and inspiring music. For this year's concert, they are returning to the beautiful St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh's West End. The cathedral provides the perfect backdrop and a stunning acoustic for the performance.

GRASP (Greenock Recovery Alcohol Support Project) are holding an afternoon Celebration of Life to consist of a cup of tea and a light buffet for members and their families as well as invited local dignitaries and agencies that have supported and continue to support the project.
The main aim of the afternoon is to remember those who have recently passed away but also to those that are currently suffering that there is still a reason to live and make the most of what time they have left!
The afternoon will consist of members describing what life means to them, sharing fond memories of those members that have passed away and above all having a celebration through music and dance!

Many prisoners have been affected by bereavement at some point in their lives. Prison can feel like a lonely place and feelings of isolation can be made worse by bereavement.
The To Absent Friends lunch will allow them to share their experiences of bereavement with others including staff, prisoners and invited guests.
