Virtual events
Covid-19 has led to changes in the way people are able to meet up in person, but has also meant that many people are becoming increasingly confident taking part in virtual get-togethers.
Just as during lockdown people found themselves holding family get-togethers, pub-quizzes and support groups over Zoom or MS Teams, we expect to see an increase this year in people holding virtual remembrance events as part of the To Absent Friends festival.
This website will be updated with details as they become available (and please get in touch if you are planning your own virtual remembrance event).
Online tributes
This online remembrance wall is a place to leave a tribute to someone who has died: online remembrance wall.
There is space to share longer tributes with photos and stories here: sharing stories
Significant songs
Is there a song that reminds you of someone? We're creating a playlist of songs that have special memories for people - you can add your own piece of music and story here: remembrance playlist
Social media
During To Absent Friends week, people often take part over social media by sharing their own stories or memories of people who have died. Sometimes, people change their profile picture to someone who has died. The hashtags for this year are #ToAbsentFriends and #TAF2020
