Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland are holding a Café of Reminiscence. This is an opportunity to share stories and memories of the people we have loved who have died in a welcoming environment over tea/coffee and cake.
At the café, Cruse will offer a brief outline of the services offered and then participants will be invited to share stories of people who are missed. At no time will there be any pressure, or expectation, for anyone to speak if they do not wish to. Sometimes simply being with others can feel helpful.
There is no cost to attend this event but if you wish to come along or to get further information, contact Cruse on 0141 248 1602 or west@crusescotland.org.uk. Spaces are limited and must be reserved in advance.
Marie Curie staff and volunteers will hold a To Absent Friends event at HMP Edinburgh. Those attending will have the opportunity to talk about someone who has died, in a small group setting. A calligrapher will be available to write the names of absent friends on leaf shaped pieces of paper to be placed on an Absent Friends tree. At the end of the session attendees will be able to keep these along with a paper origami daffodil created by a local artist.
The exhibition It Takes a Village will be on display and music will be provided to help provide an informal and relaxed atmosphere.

The Victoria Hospice Arts Team will be holding an art workshop for staff and volunteers. The art session will provide and encourage a setting for participants to openly discuss and reflect upon their experiences with hospice patients (or loved ones) who are dying or have died. Using art as a way to enable conversation and connection, the session will offer an invaluable opportunity to celebrate and remember those who make working in palliative care such a rewarding job. The art session will consist of discussion and personal storytelling with the creation of artwork inspired by a particular patient or story.
This will be a private event only open to staff and volunteers.
