Remembering 25 years of friends now gone

Sauchie Community Group, now in it’s 25th year, has always been run by supporters and volunteers. Many of our members have died over the years, and we are organising this ‘Absent Friends’ event to remember those friends who we’ve lost over the last quarter of a century.

Join us on for a slideshow down memory lane, sharing of stories and memories, food and music. We encourage current members and former members, their family and their friends to join in our celebration to remember fondly those who had such an impact on our lives and our community.

Thursday 26 October, 7pm
Sauchie Resource Centre, Mar Place, Sauchie, FK10 3EA.

All are welcome.

Inverclyde street parties

Across Inverclyde, people will be celebrating and remembering people who have died.

Among the events being planned are street parties in Greenock, Gourock, Port Glasgow, Kilmacolm and Inverkip/Wemyss Bay/Skelmorlie.

At the street parties, people will decorate bunting with a message to or memory of a loved one, and then fly the bunting to decorate the parties.

For more information or to get involved, contact Alison Bunce, Project Lead for Compassionate Inverclyde.

Shared Remembrance: To Absent Friends

This event is for carers, people with dementia and befrienders, who will be invited to contribute to a ‘To Absent Friends’ framed ‘wall’. We will offer space in which people can remember those who have died, and have a chance to share stories together in an emotionally safe environment. The event will also offer the opportunity for care staff to remember people they have cared for.

The framed final ‘To Absent Friends’ piece will be dedicated and displayed in an appropriate location in the centre, where anyone who has contributed could visit at any time. The event will include making the piece, and a chance to light a candle for those being remembered, and time to share memories and stories over afternoon tea.

Thursday 2 November
Eric Liddell Centre, Edinburgh. The event is private.
