Foreword

These recipes have been collected by the Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care, Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland, Sue Ryder, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie and Scottish Care.

As organisations working to support people who are bereaved, we believe it is important to make time in our lives to remember people who have died.

We believe in the solace people get from sharing their memories of dead loved ones, and that life is richer when we can listen to each other's stories.

This book is being launched as part of To Absent Friends 2020 - the annual Scottish festival of storytelling and remembrance.

Whether someone died recently or long ago, they continue to matter to the people who love them. It is particularly poignant to be publishing this book this year, in times of covid-19, when so much loss has been suffered by so many.

So, please read these stories, try out the recipes, and perhaps remember some of the special people in your life too...
